Celebration Sunday with 1 service

Sunday, February 05, 2012, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

I cannot even imagine the number of hours, effort and sacrifice that people have made to bring the Super Bowl XLVI to Indianapolis.   As you may know, one of our members, Brad Carlson, Vice President of the Marketing of the Super Bowl Host Committee has been instrumental in the process of preparation.   I hope that we will assist him in this effort as you offer welcome and hospitality to the many guests who will be coming to the city.

Not to be left out of the celebration, we are planning one service for Sunday, February 5, 2012.  We will worship in the Sanctuary at 10:30 a.m. and then move to the Fellowship Hall.  The Finance Committee would like to offer their appreciation for your generous support of the mission and ministries of Meridian Street in 2011.  Having finished the third year in a row with a small cash surplus we have established a tradition of living within our means as a faith community.

So, dress casually, wear your favorite team jersey to worship and join the fun of a potluck afterwards.  Bring your favorite tailgate party snack to share with the congregation.  Bring chips and dip, BBQ wings or cheese sticks, and a few sweets to share.  The Finance Team will supply some sandwich items and cold drinks.  In addition, bring a can or two of soup and we will donate the soup to a local food pantry.  Celebrate the goodness of God, the generosity of the congregation, and the hospitality Indianapolis as you enjoy some fun with your extended family at Meridian Street on Super Bowl Sunday.

God continues to bless us with new life and spiritual energy. Yet as we celebrate the joy of the relationships within this congregation, may we always keep our minds and hearts attuned to those who are not yet aware how precious they are to God.  In the words of William Temple, “A church is the only organization that exists primarily for the benefit of non-members.”  May those words be our inspiration this year as we share in the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Sincerely

Rev. Anne Rosebrock
