Kids on Sunday

Children are very important to the Meridian Street United Methodist Church community, especially on Sunday mornings.  The staff and caregivers who spend time with your children on Sunday mornings have been screened, trained, and are supervised. We offer a wonderful and safe place for children of all ages to learn about the love of God.

Infants & Toddlers – We are happy to offer loving care in our Nursery (Room 103) for children from birth through age two and a half.  This time is filled with toys, books and Bible stories, smiles and laughter. Children up to age four are welcome to join this group during 9:00 and 10:00 worship. (Please note that we ask that you not leave the building while your children are in our care.  We need to be able to contact you in the event of an emergency.)

During 10:30 worship, our Disciple Kids (children age 2 1/2 and up) enjoy our special Deep Blue Kids Bible Adventures. Deep Blue Kids is an exciting adventure through the Bible each and every week! This kid friendly resource includes adventure, exciting stories, arts and crafts, animated video storytelling, and active games – all combined into a living-faith experience that will help your children discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today! All of our age groups experience developmentally appropriate lessons. Preschoolers will color, sing and play while our older kids move toward understanding how these stories can help them navigate their everyday lives.

Each weekly adventure begins at church and then continues at home with parent conversation and activity tips both printed and online. Our weekly Family Time e-message and the Deep Blue Adventure app will bring the Bible stories right to your phone or tablet. Your kids can play interactive games that are engaging and bring our weekly stories to life at home.

Older Two's & 3’s Preschool – This class is for preschoolers who are two and half through three years old and meets in Room 108.  Our lessons follow the same Bible stories as the older kids.  Each lesson includes songs, stories, crafts and playing.

4’s Preschool and Kindergarten meets in room 107 in the early childhood wing on the lower level of the church.  First and second graders meet in room 111.  Kids in grades three and four meet in room 112. Fifth and sixth graders are in Sunday school the entire worship hour and meet in room 305.  This classroom is on the third floor.

All of our Children's Ministry programming follows Meridian Street’s legacy of discipleship, building a foundation of Christian learning, faithful service, and mission outreach using the theme “Faith, Friends, and Fun.”

  • Faith - includes learning Christian values, Bible stories, and faith lessons during the Disciple Kids programming on Sunday mornings and in special events throughout the year.
  • Friends - fellowship is a large piece of the Christian discipleship model and is important to children as they build a strong and lasting relationship with their church family.
  • Fun - learning about God and Jesus should be fun. It makes the children want to participate and learn.
