Pastoral Transition

On Sunday, October 17, Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) Chair Dan Evans, announced that Rev. Steven M. Conger will be retiring at the end of this conference year, June 30, 2022. As a United Methodist congregation, our next senior pastor will be appointed by Bishop Julius C. Trimble, and the appointment process has already begun. During this process, the SPRC is responsible for representing the congregation. To that end, the committee met with our Conference Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Aleze Fulbright, on October 26 to discuss the process.  The hope is to have the appointment announced in the first quarter of 2022.

The SPRC welcomes and encourages input from the broader congregation about Meridian Street’s ministry and pastoral leadership needs. Look for an insert to the bulletin with specific questions to which you can respond on Sunday, November 7 and November 14 Those questions will also be shared in a church-wide email the week of November 7.

The SPRC wants to be in conversation with all of you! SPRC members are Dan Evans (chair), Anna Hastings, Heather Barr, Scott Bruins, Debbie Christie, Mike Hanlin, Roger Outcalt, Frank Ricketts, Beth Soper, and Gail Strong (our lay leader).
