Women
Needlework Group
The Needlework Group is open to anyone who has an interest in knitting, crochet, quilting, sewing or any other type of needlework. Any level of skill is welcome. For those who would like to learn to knit or crochet, members of the group will be happy to provide instruction. The members gather together the third Thursday of the month to create, chat, and exchange ideas and patterns. Those who cannot attend the meetings, can donate project items completed at home.
Currently members create prayer shawls, lap robes and baby blankets for church members and friends in need of a little extra comfort, as well as children’s sweaters, adult and child hats, scarves, mittens, and socks to give to East 10th Street and Vida Nueva Methodist Churches. They also knit Comfort or Prayer Dolls to be given to children who are in need of a little extra love. The last batch of dolls went to an orphanage in Bolivia visited by the mission team from Meridian Street.
There are lots of ideas and places and people in need, so the group would really welcome some new members! Contact Mary Sue McAlister for more information on how to get connected!
Circles
There are currently three active women’s groups—“Circles”—at Meridian Street and all would be delighted to have new members join them. Circle 1 meets Tuesday mornings for book discussion; Circle 6 is a Friday morning study group and Circle 7 meets on Saturday mornings. For more information contact Mary Sue McAlister.
