Children are very important to the
Meridian Street United Methodist Church is temporarily closed to in-person attendance for Sunday morning worship. The children’s Sunday School program is on pause through mid-February 2022. The website will provide updates regarding the return to in-person worship and all Sunday morning opportunities for children.
Sunday morning nursery: We are happy to offer loving care in our Nursery (Room 103) for children from birth through preschool age during both the Sunday school hour and the worship hour. This time is filled with toys, books and Bible stories, smiles and laughter. Children older than preschool attend children’s Sunday school and worship with their families until exiting to children’s church.
During the Sunday School hour: From 9:00 to 9:50 we offer a one-room-schoolhouse Sunday school program in room 107. There, children (Kindergarten through Fifth Grade) enjoy our Celebrate Wonder Sunday school curriculum. This kid-friendly resource includes adventure, exciting stories, differentiated arts and crafts, animated video storytelling, and active games – all fostering children’s spiritual growth through a focus on the awe and wonder that enrich life in a faith community. Each weekly adventure begins at church and then continues at home with parent conversation and activity tips both printed and online. Our weekly Family Time e-message brings frequent home-connection suggestions right to your phone or tablet.
During the worship service: Children above preschool age will begin their worship hour alongside their parents, experiencing the sanctuary environment and the gathering of worshipers through the opening of the service. Children will be invited to move to a children’s church service held in the church library following a children’s message embedded in corporate worship. Those who prefer to remain in the sanctuary have activity bags (for ages 3 through 6) and worship bulletins (for ages 7 through 11) available at both entrances to the Sanctuary.
